Paul Munro and family

Cambridgeshire

8 carp caught in total but was aiming for only big carp.
25lb Ghosty
2 x 30lbers biggest 39lb
4 x 40lbers biggest 49lb.6ozs.
1 x50lber new PB

Having visited Malhere before I had made the decision to target the bigger fish rather than catching more but smaller. The weather was mixed with temperatures between 25˚plus (days) and 17˚(nights) a bit overcast. We did have rain but over the night and early hours of morning. No issues with flies, saw a family of 6 Coypu on a couple of occasions but gave us no bother. As always it was a relaxing and comfortable time. My advice is to find your spots and stick with them, the fish will come, we used a little and often baiting approach, we only really fished during the day. Lost 3 fish as well.

7 x 20lbers to 27lb
3 x 30lbers to 39lb
4 x 40lbers to 47lb ( new PB for Cody).

Arrived at 2am in morning in the rain. Was pre told fish come out all over so casting to showing fish all over the lake, they didn’t seem to want it. Rained heavy for 1st 2 whole days which made the fishing slow, look through visitors book and fished as people from Gloucester’s comments and spots, the fish then came but at night with not much during the day. We averaged 2 a night, baby Coypu where a pain bumping into lines at night going through lines. Big Coypu kept their distance. I would love to fish this venue in prime time April or late September. I think the Pollfrey family before us seemed to have a good catching week before us so slowed things for us and the start with the weather.

Gloucester

29 carp caught in total

11 x 20lbers
9 x 30lbers ( 5 over 35lb)
9 x 40lbers (biggest mirrors 49.04lb PB & 47.10lb PB, biggest commons 49lb PB & 46.05lb PB) ( 5 over 45lb)

Arrived late Saturday night due to Eurotunnel delays. 1st fish came Sunday morning with a PB for Ben. Rained all through till Monday which saw fishing at its best. Rest of week saw temperature rise and fishing slow down a bit. Tips are to establish spots and stick to them, no need for big beds of bait, little and often worked best, a great week with % PB’s for 2 of us, we WILL be back.

Richard and Jeff

Reading

27 carp caught in total

8 x 40lbers biggest 48lb
Smallest 18lb

Our 2nd visit to Malhere and we had another great week. We caught from all over the lake on various baits and rigs. The fishing switched off slowly considerably mid-week due to the extreme heat (40˚on Thermometer) the water temperature was like a bath!!! We ended up with 27 fish from 18lb to 48lb with 8 different 40s. A great venue and have already booked up for next year.

We arrived on Saturday to set our gear up and went on the search for the carp. We found our spots and baited up then placed our rigs on them. The first day and night was slow, the weather was very hot!!! Out of nowhere Tony was into a fish with dean a few hours later. Feeding time seemed to be between 10-12pm and 5 – 10am. We picked the odd one up during the day, we smashed it catching loads of carp with Tony’s biggest at 55lb and deans at 61lb. we had an amazing time and will be back very soon. Thanks so much.
